Recent Project

All Saints Church, Ringmore

The roof type was a scantle roof using South Hams slates, the slates were wooden pegged and lime bedded.
We recorded the roof when stripping to identify the length of the slates to each course, the margin that you see, the lathe gauge and the headlap on each course.
This enabled us to identify any bad courses and give us an idea if it was 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 pin
We mixed in the original slates with reclaimed slates, we made are own wooden pegs and bedded the slates on a quick lime or hot lime mortar.
